Privacy

Your data, handled lightly.

This is a portfolio, not a data business. Here is everything this site does with your information, in plain words.

01

No tracking

No analytics, no ads, no pixels. Nobody is watching how you scroll.

02

No cookies

Nothing that follows you around. Two small preferences stay in your own browser.

03

Never sold

Your messages are read by me, used to reply, and never shared for marketing.

01Who I am

This website, marijabute.com, belongs to Marija Buteska, an independent engineer and designer based in North Macedonia. I am responsible for any personal data you share through it. If you have a question about this policy or your data, write to hello@marijabute.com.

02What I collect

When you email me. The contact form doesn't send anything to a server. Pressing send opens your own email app with your message ready to go. If you send it, or write to me directly, I receive your name, your email address and whatever you choose to include.

When you visit. Like every website, this one is served by a hosting provider whose servers automatically keep short technical logs: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used for security and to keep the site running. I don't use them to identify you.

That's all. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising on this site.

03What stays in your browser

This site doesn't set cookies. It saves two small preferences in your browser's own storage, and they never leave your device:

  • Your theme, if you switch to dark mode, so the site remembers your choice.
  • The intro, so the painted opening plays once per visit rather than on every page.

The live project demos in some case studies (such as FORMA and Cone Six) are fully working apps. Anything you create in them, like a comment or a booking, is saved only in your browser. You can clear all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

04Why I use it

I use the details in your email to read your message, reply to you and, if we decide to work together, to plan and deliver the project. The legal basis is your request to be contacted and, where it applies, taking steps towards a contract with you. Hosting logs are kept because they are needed to run and protect the website.

I will never sell your data, add you to a mailing list or use it for advertising.

05Who else is involved

I keep this list as short as possible. These services handle data on my behalf, under their own privacy and security commitments:

  • My web hosting and email provider, which runs this website and the hello@marijabute.com mailbox.
  • Google (Gmail), where I read and answer my email.

Some of these providers may process data outside your country. When they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. I don't share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

06How long I keep it

Emails about an enquiry are kept for as long as our conversation is useful, and deleted within two years of our last exchange if we don't work together. If we do work together, I keep project correspondence and invoices for as long as accounting and tax law require. Hosting logs are kept only briefly and deleted automatically by the provider.

07Your rights

You can ask me at any time to:

  • see the personal data I hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your data
  • stop or limit how I use it, or object to it
  • send you a copy in a portable format

Just write to hello@marijabute.com and I'll reply within 30 days. If you feel your data has been mishandled, you also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in North Macedonia that is the Personal Data Protection Agency, and in the EU, the authority in your country.

This site isn't aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

09Changes

If the way this site handles data changes, for example if I add analytics, I'll update this page before the change goes live. Anything that needs your permission will ask for it first.
